I know like to welcome our featured student speaker for this evening Mister our Trail Miller at Cardinal Ritter Arturo has proven himself as a leader in the classroom on the field and in the community he has Big Dreams for his future after graduation this year and I can't wait for you to hear his powerful testimony good evening everyone hope everyone is enjoying themselves tonight my name is Arturo Miller student in the class of 2022 and I am currently ranked fourth in my class with a 4.0 GPA I would like to tell you guys a little bit about myself and how Cardinal Ritter has helped me on my path to success I was born and raised here in St Louis by my mother and father I went to public Elam being middle schools before finding my way to Cardinal Ritter and this may surprise you but I would actually get in trouble a lot as a kid we later realize that I acted out because I would finish my work before the rest of the students that's why I'm bored in class so I will go on punishment and guess where I had to read books lots and lots of books I became fascinated with books and I began to visit the library very often and find his men interesting books as I could when the time came for me to go to high school my parents and I decided that it would be best for me to attend a private institution that is academically rigorous I began to shadow visit. all over st. Louis however none of them gave me this feeling that Cardinal record did I felt at home I like that the school was very small with a population of about 400 students when you walk around you can tell that everyone just loves it's a family-oriented and supportive environment so it was just right for me it's an a for friends and family members who want you to have a bright future but that Ritter the family the faculty numbers and are so Hands-On and encouraging that they feel like your family too my parents are proud of me today because they get a great job and helping me get a head start in my education from a very young age the two of them emphasize the importance of my academic performance and now Cardinal Ritter is helping me take that to the next level the Cardinal Ritter mission of Faith development academic and Leadership is something I feel every day at school we always make time to pray we attend Mass every month and our Chapel was always open in the area of leadership wheeler lift each other of Mentor each other and business skills such as occupant newest ship and ask them to our daily routine and let me tell you about academics I don't have much time to be bored these days because they I'm taking advanced placement history Advanced college credit physics calculus world literature and many more college-level classes that challenge me and prepare me for my future and I also discovered something about myself a card and reader that I didn't know with the help of a teacher I am a great writer my English mrs. Mickey saw my natural Talent during my freshman year is she encouraged me to developing Miss Mickey told me that I was the best writer in her class and that stuck with me I love that reputation and this is ask you I would take with me and to my future and make good use of the teachers at Ritter take you to the next level and then take it one step further I'll give you another example I sure miss Mickey my interest in civil engineering and says her husband is a chemical engineer she made sure to find me all the details she could about the engineering field and she never stopped checking up on me and it was this extra step to help me figure out what I want to become in my career I'm proud to say that after my time according to Richard is up I will going to study civil engineering while playing football at the Collegiate level let's talk about college for a moment I know many high school seniors with Twitter's they have not applied for any colleges not a router I hear they do everything in their power going above and beyond to ensure that you are set up for having a successful future since the beginning of my senior year I can ask questions daily such as where have you applied to Where Have You Been except have you apply for any scholarships what are your top three school will now 7 months later I have answers I applied to 20 colleges and I got accepted into 19 and I've received more than $600,000 a scholarship watches and this is only the beginning how old is big things could the strongest woman for making it possible for our family to build the bond that we have today despite our circumstances my mother has done a great job at making our household a healthy environment throughout all of our hardships I've always have food on the table close my back and the roof over my head she makes many sacrifices for my father and I without question or hesitation and for this I'm turning grateful for her and to have her I am also grateful for my father and the huge impact that he has had on my life my father was incarcerated when I was 5 months old and is still currently serving because of this many would assume that my father was not present throughout my life however that is the total opposite of My reality throughout my father sentence my parents made sure that our circumstances did not hinder our route the shipping anyway my mother and I adopted the heavy visitation schedule visiting my dad nearly every week my father will call me nearly everyday we were writing letters back and forth sound which I keep to this day and he would eat pictures for me and those books that talk about earlier many of them were sent by him along with cassette tapes with audio of him reading the books to me despite him being despite him being behind bars he made many he found many ways to make sure that I feel his presence and for that it has driven me to want to pay him back in the best way another thing. grateful for is each of you in this room Who provided my scholarship to go to Puerto Rican I'm staying up here in front of you today because of that scholarship and thanks to your generosity I'm now prepared to take myself to the next level of Education after I iron my degree in civil engineering I plan to work on a structure projects to make our city a better place to live in especially for the homeless I know it probably feels like I'm familiar with the stroke the name calling in the Boolean and I see others around me that are less fortunate than me and this words close to my heart the deep love and concern the student body and faculty a card over to show for each other it's something we take with us in our own community and this is help me develop a plan for the direction I want my life to go thank you all for being a part of my car in the River Community
